Inviting Family India to the Netherlands for a short stay

Inviting your parents from India to the Netherlands for a short stay (up to 90 days)

Inviting your parents from India to the Netherlands for a short stay (up to 90 days) involves several steps, primarily focusing on sponsorship and visa application. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you through the process:

Step 1: Determine if Sponsorship is Needed

If your parents can demonstrate having at least €55 per person per day for their trip, they do not require a sponsor. This can be shown through bank statements, salary slips, or an employment contract. If they cannot prove this amount, you will need to act as their sponsor.

Step 2: Complete the Proof of Sponsorship Form

As a sponsor residing in the Netherlands, you must fill out the “Proof of Sponsorship and/or Private Accommodation” form. This form can be obtained online or at your local municipality (gemeente). If you are married, both you and your spouse must sign the form. The municipality will then legalize your signature for a fee (approximately €23.70; €47.40 if both spouses sign) Note: price depends on Gemeente.

Step 3: Gather Required Documents

Along with the signed and legalized sponsorship form, you must provide the following documents to your parents:

  • A photocopy of your valid passport, ID card, or Dutch residence permit (ensure your BSN is visible).
  • Proof of sufficient income for at least the next 12 months.
    • Employed: Recent employer’s declaration and the last three salary slips with 3 months bank statement
    • Self-employed: Recent extract from the Chamber of Commerce, latest tax assessment, and recent profit and loss account with 3 months bank statement (Personal & Business account both)
    • Receiving pension or benefits: Proof of income continuation for at least 12 more months.
  • A copy of your employment contract (valid for at least 12 months from the date your parents apply).

Step 4: Send Documents to Your Parents

Mail the signed sponsorship form and all accompanying documents to your parents in India. They will need these to apply for a visa.

Your parents should proceed with the following:
